Thanks for sharing your insights from your travel in South Africa. Sorry to hear you never had the best time, but we must agree that SA isn’t the easiest destination for independent travel.

Thanks for sharing these tips. I was looking for some cheap tricks to make my South Africa trip possible. I would surely include Wild Coast in my itinerary. Not too keen on trekking but will surely go for tasting local foods.

Hi Marek,

I’m enjoying your articles.. its interesting reading about my home country from your perspective. Just one thing I’d like to point out (I’m from Durban), is that KZN has the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This is often overlooked by many travellers but it’s really an amazing place. You can experience Hippos & Crocs in their natural environment and there are game parks all around this area. Not far away is Kosi Bay (near the border of Mozam). These are awesome places to experience if you’re in the region. Maybe next time 🙂

In reply to Marek. I have been to all the places you have visited except the diving. I totally agree with your views especially regarding the Wild Coast. I first went to Coffee Bay in 1977 when the road was dreadful especially in the rain.
