In reply to Maria. Yeah it's a post-covid thing. I asked 12go a few months ago when certain Laos routes will be reinstated and they didn't answer. But based on the travel groups I follow people are travelling between these two points so local companies are operating :)

I found several blogs where people mentioned using it to find connections in Thailand that nowadays aren't available. Sometimes it only shows private taxis.. Maybe it's a post-covid thing. Anyway, asking around always works :)

Yeah these sites just won’t display every available bus or minivan connection. Rome2Rio is pretty bad in Asia… 12Go is a lot better but still doesn’t have everything, especially in Laos. It’s almost certain there is transport to Luang Namtha as it’s a key route, but you may have to inquire locally at your accommodation, the bus station, or a tour agent in Huay Xai (the old school ways 🙂 )

Hi! You probably don’t have the 2023 info, but I’m trying to find a bus connection between Huay Xai and Luang Namtha (accordingy to your article one can get there by bus), but it looks like there are no buses on that route.. 12Go Asia shows nothing. Rome2Rio says one must take a bus going all the way to Oudomxay (as if it wasn’t stopping on the way) and then a taxi back to Luang Namtha.. Do you think there may be some connections, even though they’re not available on 12Go Asia website..?

In reply to Elizabeth. There's plenty of guesthouses there. I didn't book anything at the time, though you certainly could if you were picky about where you want to stay.
